USG - Ultrasound / Colour Doppler

At Clarity Imaging Centre, we offer advanced ultrasound imaging using the latest technology to deliver clear, real-time visuals of internal organs and soft tissues. Ultrasound is a safe, radiation-free, and cost-effective diagnostic tool suitable for a wide range of medical conditions.

Our ultrasound system features both 2D and 3D imaging capabilities, enhanced by colour and duplex Doppler technology, to ensure highly detailed and precise diagnostics—even in complex cases. With a Matrix Array transducer, it delivers superior 2D images and smooth transition to high-resolution 3D imaging for greater diagnostic clarity.

We also perform a range of specialized ultrasound studies, including:

  • Peripheral arterial and venous Doppler
  • Carotid artery and abdominal Doppler
  • Cardiac Doppler / Echo

FAQ's : USG / Colour Doppler – Frequently Asked Questions

What is an ultrasound scan?

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to generate images of internal organs and tissues. It is a safe procedure that does not involve any radiation.

Why do I need an ultrasound scan?

Ultrasound scans are used as a preliminary test to diagnose, monitor, or guide treatment for various medical conditions. Your doctor will recommend the test based on your symptoms or health history.

Are there any risks?

No. Ultrasound is a completely safe and non-invasive imaging technique.

Do I need to prepare for the scan?

Preparation varies depending on the type of scan. You may be advised to fast or drink water before the scan. Pelvic scan require full bladder. Our staff will inform you of any specific instructions when scheduling your appointment.

What happens during the scan?

  • You’ll lie on a table while a special gel is applied to the skin over the area being examined.
  • A hand-held sensor (transducer) is gently moved over the area to capture images.
  • For pelvic scans in women, a full bladder is often required. In some cases, a vaginal transducer may be used for clearer images—this will be explained beforehand and performed by trained female staff.

What is a guided biopsy?

A guided biopsy involves using ultrasound to help a doctor insert a needle to collect tissue, fluid, or cell samples for testing. It is a quick, safe procedure done under local anaesthesia for your comfort.

What is breast sonography?

Breast ultrasound is used to evaluate lumps or abnormalities in breast tissue. It helps distinguish between solid masses and fluid-filled cysts, especially in patients with dense breast tissue or as a follow-up to mammograms.

What is a Doppler scan?

Doppler ultrasound assesses blood flow in arteries and veins, helping detect blockages, narrowing, or clots that may affect circulation.

Can I find out the baby’s sex after a pregnancy scan?

No. Determining or revealing the baby's sex is illegal, and such requests will not be entertained under any circumstances.

Does the scan hurt?

Ultrasound scans are painless. You may feel slight pressure from the sensor. For internal scans, the procedure will be clearly explained to you beforehand, and our female staff will ensure your comfort throughout.

How long does the scan take?

Most ultrasound scans are completed in 10–30 minutes. Complex or follow-up studies may take longer or require repeat imaging.

When will I receive my report?

Reports are reviewed and prepared by our expert radiologists and are typically ready within 1-2 hours. Our front office staff will inform you the time your report will be available.
